VAMC has two Numbered Air Forces, the 15th Air Force at Travis Air Force Base, California, and the 21st Air Force at McGuire Air Force Base, New Jersey, whose missions are to command and assess the combat readiness of assigned Air mobility forces. Bases assigned to Virtual Air Mobility Command are Andrews Air Force Base, Charleston Air Force Base, Dover Air Force Base, Fairchild Air Force Base, Grand Forks Air Force Base, MacDill Air Force Base, McChord Air Force Base, McConnell Air Force Base, McGuire Air Force Base, Pope Air Force Base, Scott Air Force Base, and Travis Air Force Base. In addition, the 19th Air Refueling Group at Robins Air Force Base, Georgia; the 463rd Airlift Group at Little Rock Air Force Base, Arkansas; and the 317th Airlift Group at Dyess Air Force Base, Texas, are assigned to AMC. The Tanker Airlift Control Center schedules and tracks strategic tanker and airlift resources worldwide. Air Force and Department of Defense support taskings are channeled through this state-of-the-art hub of mobility control. VAMC's premier training institution, Air Mobility Warfare Center, consolidates air mobility training previously located at seven units. AMWC is located at McGuire AFB, New Jersey. |
